As the straightforward name implies, Granito is selected from old garnacha vineyards planted on granitic soils in Cebreros. Granitic wines tend to be accessible, with silky fruit and a delicate structure. Granito is a blend of over 60-year-old garnacha from the El Robledillo and El Mojón vineyards at 890m to 920m. Granito displays explosive aromatics and a complex structure. The farming at Pegaso is certified organic and the wines are made with low intervention and minimal sulfur at bottling.
Vintage – 2016 was an excellent, cooler year in Gredos, producing well-balanced wines of great aromatic intensity, well-developed fruit character and structure for development in bottle. 2016 Pegaso Granito shows the elegance and perfume of garnacha grown on granite soils. The color is vibrant ruby and the nose is explosively floral, and herbaceous, with excellent freshness from its nebbiolo-like acidity. The harvest began in mid-September, offering a balanced vintage with incredible potential for further development.
Vinification – Following a manual harvest, the grapes are fermented with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 24 months in 600L French oak barrels sourced from different forests.
