Remelluri Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente de la Sonsierra 2016

Lindes de Remelluri is a groundbreaking pair of wines dedicated to expressing the attributes of two of Rioja’s most distinctive wine villages: Labastida and San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Viñedos de San Vicente de la Sonsierra is a selection of 36 vineyard plots occupying a total of 13.95 ha, worked by 11 winegrowers, expressing a variety of soils and orientations ranging from the sandy terrains of the Quaternary Period alongside the Ebro River at 425m, to the poorer, rocky soils, consisting of sandstone and loam from the Tertiary Period, rising to as high as 695m. San Vicente is defined by the voluptuous hillside landscapes that offer a wine with a broader and silkier texture than Labastida, which envelops a defined, fresh structure and excellent balance.

Vintage – In 2016, Rioja gave abundant, healthy fruit, so the expert work in the vineyard by Remelluri’s team was essential to the high quality obtained. Winter was one of the mildest of the decade, and spring was rainy, replenishing underground water reserves. Despite the temperate winter, budding came later than usual with an exceptional fruit set. The 2016 is an outstanding, fine vintage for Lindes, velvety-textured with very fine tannins. It has restrained ripeness, integrated alcohol, charming balance, and an open and complex expression on the nose.

Vinification – Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and aged 12 months in French oak barrels of various sizes and ages.
