Summer Cocktails from the South

Sitting on a jostling board in South Carolina absorbing the sultry summer made me think about how great Sherry is in cocktails. I am a fan of Blenheim Ginger Ale. I mix it with everything and have recently discovered how delicious it is with a Manzanilla over crushed ice - lots of crushed ice. A squeeze of lime and that is it for me this summer.

We are collecting a bevy of cocktails made with Sherry and archiving them on our site. This first batch below is an ode to the South. Enjoy y’all!

Jostling Board

6 oz La Cigarrera Manzanilla
Blenheim Ginger Ale
1/4 Lime
Pour Manzanilla over crushed ice in a pint glass, squeeze and add lime, top with Blenheim.

Bloody Maria

2 oz El Maestro Sierra Fino
5 oz Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix
Celery salt
Extra black pepper
Extra Horseradish
Extra Tabasco
Squeeze of lemon
Splash white agave tequila

The Back of Her Knee

1 oz Fino César Florido
2 oz Plymouth Gin
½ oz lime juice
Bar spoon of lemon juice
Shake all and pour into glass. Twist lemon peel over glass, rub rim with peel and wrap around olive for a garnish.

Costa Del Sol

½ oz. Gutierrez Colosia Elcano Fino
½ oz. St. Germain
1 ½ oz. Beefeater Gin
¼ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
Pour all ingredients into an ice-filled shaker and shake well. Serve up in a Manhattan or Martini glass.

En La Calle

2 oz Sangre y Trabajedro Oloroso
2 oz fresh squeezed OJ
2 oz soda
Build over ice in highball glass, or plastic cup if the party is “En La Calle”
