Conde de Hervías & Mencos 2013 Harvest
Though it was a complicated year in Torremontalbo, at Conde de Hervías they were able to harvest under optimal conditions, under sunny skies and with a drying wind that kept the grapes in perfect health. Quantities were lower than normal, but the quality is very exciting.
The cold, rainy spring was the principal cause of this year’s difficulties. Frosts on the nights of April 9th and May 6th decreased yields significantly, though they did not affect the quality.
Harvest started on the 12th of October, after a very sunny end of the season. A large number of harvesters were employed to get the fruit in as quickly as possible, at exactly the right ripeness level. The analytics are showing total acidity at 6.2g/L, pH at 3.47, and an alcohol level of 13.8%.
