Sauvignon Gris "Font Grain" 2014
Vin des Fossiles might be located on the extreme edge of Burgundy, but some of the vineyards actually overlook the Loire, and it is towards that river's valley that this wine looks. Though there is hardly any of it planted at all, it's in the Loire Valley that you will find the more plantings of Sauvignon Gris, a close relative of the more common Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification Fermented in stainless steel without any malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Notes And intense, steely, austere wine, with aromas of wet rock, earth, zingy citrus pith, and a little brine. There is an electric vibrancy to it. The acidity is intense and very direct, but on the palate it is surprisingly ample and mouth filling.
