2012 Domaine Marcel Couturier Macon Loche les Longues Terres
Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate 215
The 2012 Macon Loché Les Longues Terres comes from 1.61 hectares of marn, clay and limestone soil and sees 11 months in oak barrels. It has a strict but detailed bouquet with light citrus and white peach notes on the very contained aromatics. The palate is clean and fresh with well-judged acidity, good tension and certainly some deftly assimilated oak toward the almond-tinged finish. Very fine.
2012 Domaine Marcel Couturier Macon Loche
Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate 208
The 2012 Macon-Loche comes from 25-year-old vines and sees 7 months in oak and is one of the finest examples from this appellation. It is taciturn at first but with a little patience one discerns heavenly brioche and honeysuckle scents that become more pronounced with aeration. The palate is well-balanced and swells with control, offering refined peach and apricot notes that embrace some lovely vanillary notes toward the finish. This is a modern but succinct Macon that should age with style. Excellent.
